The owners of the NFL, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the NHL all voted to end the lockout on Friday, clearing the way for a new deal to be reached that would end the strike and restore regular season play to games.
The vote to terminate the strike was 95 to 6 in favor of ending the lockout, with the two remaining members abstaining.
The owners will meet Monday to decide how to proceed.
The league’s owners are expected to vote on a resolution that would extend the season and prevent players from participating in future games, though it’s unclear what exactly would happen after that.
The players have been fighting for the league to extend the regular season and to allow them to practice and participate in games, a position supported by owners who have been pushing for it for months.
