The Washington Redskins are hiring an offensive coordinator who was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons for two seasons.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden is expected to be named the head coach on Thursday.

He will replace the fired Kyle Shanahan who was fired after two seasons with the team.

The Falcons hired former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as their offensive coordinator in January 2016.

Gruden was fired by Atlanta after the Falcons were eliminated in the playoffs by the Carolina Panthers.

Grubb said Thursday that he will be able to have a more involved role with the offense.
